“The best moment of my graduation”

The best moment of my graduation–by far, and I really mean it, no other moment is even memorable in comparison–was the moment when, after my name had been called (and pronounced incorrectly) and I’d shaken whomever’s hand and was walking back to my seat, I heard someone shout “Jay!” and there was Eric, sitting in *his* cap and gown, waiting for his name to be called.  In that moment I remembered that Eric, absent health difficulties, would have graduated just before I got to MIT.  He’d persevered despite the multiple setbacks, and the pride and joy on his face were really something. It still makes me choke up.
